HOW DO I KNOW MY ART IS AUTHENTIC OR WHAT YOU ARE SELLING IS AUTHENTIC?
With all artists, Dali, Picasso, Chagall, Miro, Warhol, Renoir etc., you have to rely on experts that have many years of experience in their specific niche. If a dealer offers you "in house" paperwork, in other words, he is selling you the art and he is authenticating the art, then you should ask for an outside expert to create seperate documents. Now you want to know how to find one right? A good source for an appraisal is the National Institute of Appraisers, or any other organization that is of equal calibar. Watch out for sham organizations that appear to be legit on the surface, but after some digging, it's clear they are not a recognized society or organization. We use two outside experts to verify all works. We do not create "inhouse" paperwork. It's no fun taking calls from people who bought a work many years ago, and have been waiting for it to appreciate so they can sell for a profit, only to find out it is not authentic. I would rather tell the caller that they have a legit work and keep them entusiastic about the artist, but unfortunatley, that is not always the case. We go the extra mile to make sure you are acquiring something you will be happy with in the future. I can take a look at your work and have a general sense as to it's authenticity, but of course it needs to be examined.
